Been a new man

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

At that instant, that man or woman’s heart becomes a temple to the indwelling of the Holy Spirit of GOD.

1 Corinthians 3:16
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
At that same instant, that person has two natures: the OLD man and the NEW man. We LEARN from the Bible that:

We saw that what consists a man is his behaviour and thought of his heart. So becoming a new man involve us to change character and thought of our heart.

For out of the heart come evil thoughts – murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. (Matthew 15:19)(These are the old man)
1 Corinthians 15:33; Ephesians 2:3; Psalm 101:3

Everyone living in sins is still living as the old man.
But, We need to remove the old man before we can become a new man as Jesus put it clear in the parable of old wineskin. Luke 5:36-38

The new wine represents the inner aspects of a Christian life, and the new cloth pictures outward conduct and conversation. A person’s behavior reflects his commitment, seen in the illustration of attaching new cloth to old clothing. The old clothing—our sinful, selfish life—cannot be mended but must be replaced. The new cloth is a righteous life. We must remove the old life for us to begin a new life which is called the new man,

Jesus said:

  1. No one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old.
  2. And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined.
  3. No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins.

We must make efforts to remove the old man, so that the we can become a new man.

Therefore we are advised to put off the man.
Ephesians 4:21-22
If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

Without putting them off, it will not be possible to do the will of God.

Ephesians 4:23-34
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Here the new man must be in righteouness and holiness.
1.Seeking the word of God
This is a task we must struggle to fulfil as we are told to seek this a newborn baby seeks milk

1 Peter 2:2
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
We need, as a purchased possession, to bring to him, who purchased us by his blood, be unto the PRAISE of his glory.

Psalm 119:9-11
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

  1. Living in holiness
Pursue peace with everyone, as well as holiness, without which no one will see the Lord. Hebrews 12:14
  2. Embrace Godliness
For physical exercise is of limited value, but godliness is valuable in every way, holding promise for the present life and for the one to come. 1Tim4:8
  3. Keep on the fellowship with the saints
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
    Hebrews 10:25
  4. Walking in the newness of life.
and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
    Colossians 3:10

We’ll put on the NEW man which is renewed according to Heaven’s standards. The new man, who lifts up Jesus, drawing others to Jesus, like a magnet. The new man who can see, speak, is victorious, is well and under the blessing, favor and supply of God.
